This Week's Special:

Every week there will be a special post. Something that we don't regularly have every week. This week's special is: Introducing Ash!

Ash is one of my two cats. (I'll introduce my other cat another time) He is a big, dark grey cat with gold green eyes. He's calm and quiet, and everybody likes him.

The reason we ended up with our cats in the first place is because our friends had puppies. The ordinary event ensued. The kids begged for a puppy, Mom secretly backed them up, and Dad said no.

The day afterwards, in a last desperate attempt to get a dog, I, E. G. Runyan, took an old notebook and wrote a paper, promising that we would do chores to earn the dog's food, train it, and completely take care of it. Though doubtful, everyone of us signed the paper at the end.

I copied it on our printer so it would look neater, and presented it to our dad before breakfast. He read it, and then said decidedly, "You can get a kitten."

Our friends had also had kittens, and it was quickly arranged that we would take their tabby.

After getting the tabby cat, (which we named Pumpkin,) life started to get back to normal, and everyone fawned over the cat. Then after a little over a week after we got Pumpkin, our neighbor's dog found a tiny grey kitten in their brush pile. He took them to another neighbor, asking if they knew anyone who would take it. They at once directed him to our house.

It didn't take long for my Dad to give in to keeping Ash. He was the sweetest, and kindest kitten we had ever met. He let us hold him, and if one of us is too rough he still, politely growls until we let go. He's very patient, and helpful.

Once he was shut up by accident in my brother's bedroom. The thing he did of course, was go to the bathroom in the middle of the floor.

Mewing and scratching at the door, one of my siblings finally heard him and opened the door.

I have never seen a cat look so remorseful. Ash led Thomas to where he had gone to the bathroom, pointed his paw at it. He mewed, and walked around it, looking so guilty.

I did have to clean it up, which wasn't very fun: But it was better since he felt so sorry that he had done it, and it hadn't even been his fault.
