Book of the Week! Jan 8, 2021

Updated: Jul 4, 2021

From now on every week I am going to have a 'Book of the Week' with a picture of that particular book and a short review, plus an age advisory.

Today's book of the week is: 'The Incorrigible children of Ashton Place, the Mysterious Howling,' by Maryrose Wood.

'Of especially naughty children, it is sometimes said: "They must have been raised by wolves." The Incorrigible Children actually were.'

-Maryrose Wood

The first book in one of the funniest series I've ever read, Maryrose Wood adds hilarity and real problems into one fabulously well done book about three children and their young governess Miss Penelope Lumley.

Compared to the famous "Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket, and "The Mysterious Benedict Society" By Trenton Lee Stewart, "The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, Mysterious Howling" can be enjoyed by all ages.

Miss Penelope Lumley has just graduated from the Swanburne Academy for Poor Bright Females. When she at last makes it to Ashton Place, and discovers her pupils to have been 'raised by wolves' she has plenty of work to do. Miss Penelope Lumley and her clever quotes from Agatha Swanburne are sure to make you laugh as you watch three children trying to learn Latin and Mathematices, while trying stop howling and chewing their shoes.

I would advise age nine and up, for this is one of those ageless stories that you never forget.
